Wahoo’s for the Win

Wahoo’s Fish Taco has been reeling in nothing but a fresh catch since it first opened at Ward Gateway Center in 2006. A second location soon followed at Kahala Korner, and sisters Stephanie Gambetta and Noel Pietsch have no regrets about bringing this “California-Mex” concept to the Islands.

Wahoo’s Fish Taco is a California-based chain that offers a beachy vibe and stellar cuisine to match.

“Healthy food at a reasonable price is what we give to our customers,” Pietsch says, noting that all fish and meats are grilled, and there are no preservatives in any of the food.

Everything is made fresh daily at Wahoo’s, and that’s portrayed in items such as Wahoo’s Salad with Chicken ($10.55), and No. 2 Combo Platter with Spicy Chicken Enchilada and Fish Taco ($9.95).

Salads are a big draw here, and Wahoo’s Salad presents hungry diners with a bed of lettuce and red cabbage topped with cheese, salsa, guacamole, crisp tortilla chips and tender pieces of chicken. And for the diner with a bigger appetite, No. 2 Combo Platter is a fiesta in your mouth. All combo platters are served with ahee rice and black beans or spicy Cajun white beans. Choice of fillings include blackened or flame-broiled fish or chicken, pork, steak, mushrooms, banzai veggies or tofu.

Wahoo’s Kahala offers a full bar as well, and you’ll definitely want to wash down this tasty cuisine with refreshing drink options, whether it be a margarita or Hualalai lemonade.

When you’re in the mood for top tastes, sing praises for Wahoo’s Fish Taco.
