A Menu Above the Rest

Since 1965, Top of Waikiki has been the site of countless magical evenings filled with upscale Island-fusion cuisine enjoyed amid starlit views of Waikiki. The revolving restaurant, located at the top of Waikiki Business Plaza, is ready to seize the day as well, with its Mother’s Day lunch menu available from noon to 3 p.m. May 13.

The exquisite selection of dishes will feature some of the restaurant’s tried-and-true favorites, including crispy Herb Roasted Half Chicken with Asiago Corn Bechamel and amazingly creamy Polenta ($28). Or try something new, such as Pan Seared Beef Tenderloin with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus with Bernaise and Hamakua Mushroom Truffle Demi ($34).

Executive chef John Neff and sous chef Sean Walsh also developed new recipes exclusively for Mom’s special day. Miso Marinade Salmon ($30) will delight any mother, with kim chee Portuguese sausage fried rice, braised baby bok choy and namasu vegetables accompanying a tender salmon fillet.

“The miso blends well with the salmon,” says Neff. “It’s such a strong-flavored fish, so the miso mellows it out and gives it a sweet, rich flavor.”

The well-rounded menu fashions appetizers “Porchetta” Crispy Skin Pork Roulade with Grape & Blueberry Compote ($7), as well as salads such as Kula Gourmet Greens ($7) with roasted grapes, candied Cajun walnuts, Maui onion, Camembert and Champagne vinaigrette.

And don’t forget to leave room for desserts that include Toffee Macadamia Nut & Candied Ginger Chocolate Candy Bar with Vanilla Bean Gelato & Caramel ($10).

After one bite, Mom will be on cloud nine at Top of Waikiki.
