This place has it all Thai’d up for veggie lovers.
“We can accommodate people who don’t eat meat or fish,” says Thai Village owner Mang Sisounthone. “They just have to let us know.”
Yes! At versatile Thai Village, nearly everything can be meatand fish-free (although, heads up, the soups contain chicken broth). And if you’re familiar with Thai food, you know that vegetables usually rule in the exotic, fragrant and sometimes fiery hot dishes, and Thai Village strives to use fresh, local produce as much as possible. Not only is the menu extensive, but there are numerous additions listed alongside many dishes. And if you don’t eat meat or fish, there’s a plethora of delicious alternatives.
For example, Eggplant ($8.95) with bell peppers and basil leaves is sauteed with Thai seasoning and can be prepared with tofu for non-meat eaters (or carnivores can choose chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, scallops and more for an additional cost). This a la carte dish does contain oyster sauce, so when ordering just ask them to omit it. And although omitting the oyster sauce will alter the taste a bit, the chef will kick it up vegetarian-style.
Just need a snack or maybe an addition to your entree?
“Our Vegetable Summer Rolls (two for $6.95) are strictly vegetarian,” assures Sisounthone. Fresh lettuce, cucumber, carrot and mint are wrapped in soft rice paper and served with peanut sauce — a refreshing appetizer or snack any time of day.
Friendly, accommodating service and authentic cuisine, this place has figured out how to Thai it all together for a truly satisfying experience.
