Giving Nagoya’s Noodles a Twirl

Rice is nice, but for slurping, twirling fun, there’s nothing to rival noodles. A go-to dish again and again, noodles just hit the spot any time of day. Whether it’s Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Italian … the list goes on and on, noodles rule, especially if you choose not to eat meat or fish. Served hot, cold, in soups, stir-fries, topped with sauces … the possibilities are nearly endless.

And that’s a good thing, since noodles are satisfying, easy to eat and delicious mixed with vegetables. And the fact that they make their way onto many Island menus makes it easy to find a meal you know you’ll enjoy.

Nagoya Ramen, conveniently located in Mililani Shopping Center, is a relatively new kid on the block, but already has quite a following for its hot, delicious bowls of ramen.

But ramen isn’t the only way to slurp oodles of noodles. So if you’re not in the mood for soup, why not give Nagoya’s Vegetable Fried Noodles ($6.50) a twirl?

The name pretty much says it all. It’s a preparation that’s so traditional, you know how it’s going to taste before you take your first bite — although, of course, Nagoya’s chef gives the dish a personal touch and uses only the best quality noodles. The noodles are stir-fried with bean sprouts, onions, carrots, green onions and cabbage in a light shoyu-based sauce. And according to Nagoya’s Sue Chen, there are no meat or fish products used in the dish, so you can feel comfortable ordering it again and again.
