The Mandalay Chinese Restaurant is located in the heart of downtown on Alakea Street, and provides those who enter its doors with a beautiful dining atmosphere and exceptional food.
Dining Out caught up with Gabe Lee, Cheryl Nagaki, Paul Busk and Stanley Hong during a business meeting. The group ordered Won Ton Soup ($8.95), Crispy Chicken with Ginger and Green Onion Sauce ($24/whole, $12.50/half), Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce ($8.95) and Fried Scallop Fried Rice ($11.95) as main dishes.
These hungry patrons also ordered an assortment of dim sum: Scallop with Spinach Dumpling ($4.50), Shrimp with Chive Dumpling ($4.50), Roasted Chicken Bun ($3.50) and Egg Tarts ($2.50).
Paul Busk: “I really liked Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce. It was so fresh and flavorful. This one stood out the most, but they were all delicious.”
Cheryl Nagaki: “My favorite was Shrimp with Chive Dumplings. The chive brought out all the flavors. I also liked the Won Ton Soup.”
Stanley Hong: “I like the fried rice, and I also like the Shrimp with Chive Dumpling. Everything is hot, and freshly made and extremely well-served. It’s a pleasure dining here.”
Gabe Lee: “My favorite is Fried Scallop with Egg White Fried Rice. It’s delicious and healthier than regular fried rice.”
