Wahoo’s Fish Taco, which started in 1988 in California, has been a local favorite in Hawaii since the early 1990s. The Wahoo’s brothers (Wing, Ed and Mingo) bring to the menu Mexican, Brazilian and Asian influences — and don’t worry, they have healthy vegetarian options, too.
Only minutes from Kahala Mall, Wahoo’s Fish Taco is a hot spot for both locals and visitors, and is perfect for a refueling session before doing more shopping. The friendly staff and great food make for an excellent dining experience.
Dining Out recently caught up with the Power family, as Debbie, Taylor, Blake, Scott and Dwight enjoyed their lunch near the lanai.
Taylor Power: “I had the Outer Reef Salad ($11.69). The fish is really fresh, and I like the guacamole — it’s fresh and there’s a lot of flavor.”
Blake Power: “Classic Burrito with steak ($8.99). I like the steak, rice and cheese combination.”
Debbie Power: “I had the Wahoo’s Salad ($10.55). The fish I chose was good. It’s really fresh, and the flavors taste good together.”
Dwight Power: “I had the Teriyaki Carnitas Bowl ($10.75). There’s a wonderful spice that’s not light and not oily — It’s really fresh and wonderfully seasoned.”
Scott Power: “I’m eating the Chicken Enchiladas with Cilantro Sauce ($3.65). I love the shrimp and sauce. It’s always nicely cooked, and there’s a bit of spiciness that I love.”
