The Veranda at the Moana Surfrider is set to host its annual “Sugar and Spice Mother-Daughter Tea” from noon to 3 p.m. May 7 at this Waikiki iconic landmark. While treating your mother to a relaxing afternoon tea, some of Hawaii’s own mothers and daughters also will participate in a fashion show, modeling Cinnamon Girl attire. Local celebrities, including Mrs. Hawaii 2011 Lara Leimana Fonoimoana, Miss Hawaii 2008 Nicole Fox, and 2010 Cherry Blossom Queen Marissa Machida will make a special appearance as well.

As a time-honored tradition, the Moana Surfrider has been serving the finest in teas, dainty finger sandwiches, scones and pastries for years. So in honor of Mother’s Day, The Veranda will be offering its renowned Classic Tea service to delight the palates of its guests, who also may select from a symphony of classics to pair with their tea, making it a complete meal.
Moana Classic Tea Service ($32.50)
The Veranda at the Moana Surfrider’s classic afternoon tea service complete with your choice of tea, soup of the day, an assortment of finger sandwiches, scones and a sampling of delicious pastries and petites fours.
Creme de Chevre ($20)
A silky smooth blend of “Maui Surfing Goat Dairy” cheese with poached pears, candied walnuts, Kauai honey and toasted baguette.
Ahi Salad Nicoise ($22)
Seared sashimi grade ahi with garden vegetables, olives, hard egg and fingerling potatoes.
