One of the best things about pasta is that it’s so versatile in its many shapes and forms, making it the base for myriad creative preparations in a variety of cuisines. But, really, for many of us, the best thing about pasta is wolfing it down.

If you’re passionate about pasta, then why settle for a pedestrian spaghetti plate when you could have Il Lupino Trattoria and Wine Bar create a dish of authentic Italian pasta for you?

“Our Mushroom-stuffed Gnocchi ($23) is definitely one of the most popular dishes,” says Il Lupino manager Heela Mottus. “These little pillow-shaped gnocchi melt in your mouth.”

Stuffed with mixed mushrooms and cheese, these plump little pillows are served with a Parmesan truffle cream sauce and white truffle oil, which adds another layer of flavor and a sophistication to the already impressive gnocchi.

If you avoid cheese and cream, then try Penne Primavera ($20). It’s loaded with vegetables including pan-roasted peppers, eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, onions, asparagus and garlic, with spicy house-made pomodoro (tomato) sauce and fresh basil.

There’s more, of course, as the Mediterranean style of eating tends to be vegetarian, and you’ll find appetizers, salads and more entrees to entice your appetite.

“We also have available gluten-free pasta,” notes Mottus, which is a valuable bit of information, since so many foodies these days avoid eating pasta because gluten doesn’t agree with them.

So, there are many reasons to treat yourself to dinner Italian-style at Il Lupino. Add in the relaxed yet refined ambiance, exceptional service and al fresco bar and dining, and you’re living la dolce vita!
