A lejandro’s Mexican Food has been in existence since 2011, when founder Alejandro Al- varado started selling tacos in the back of the bar and nightclub called Maddog Saloon Waikiki. He later obtained a lo- cation at 2831 Kalihi St., the company’s original brick-and-mortar eatery, that
opened on Cinco de Mayo in 2015. “That location is still going strong and we have a full bar and small area for
seating there,” Alvarado notes. Previously, the company also had a site in Maili, which has since closed, but now has a new location at 949 Kap-

location and were able to open in the middle of the pandemic. We created this walk-up window on the sidewalk that helped keep people spaced out and safe social distancing. At Alejan- dro’s, we want our guests to get away from their worries for just a little bit

Among the delicious meals available at Alejandro’s is the Three Taco Com- bo Plate. It features three tacos of your choice with a scoop of rice and beans, along with a drink ($13.50-$16.50). Customers can also get a Veggie Com- bo Box ($11.50).
Another popular item is the Wet Burrito Combo Plate (choice of meat or veggie $13.50-$15.50). This includes a 10-inch burrito topped with a house- made tomato-based enchilada sauce.
Served with a scoop of rice and beans, it is garnished with fresh onions, cilantro, cheese, sour cream and black olives. The Mexi-Bowl ($9) is like a burrito, but without a shell and served in a bowl.
“Our most famous meat are the car- nitas. We slow cook them in the oven overnight and then finish them off in the flattop till the pork is nice and crispy. Our most popular meat is the carne asa- da steak. We use a good cut of chuck roll steak and season it with our house seasoning mix,” Alvarado shares.
“What’s unique to us is our wet bur- ritos and our fine fresh margaritas. We do a local li hing mui margarita, and the
