The Mandalay reopened three months ago in Kaimuki after re- locating from its larger downtown location, which served as the restaurant’s initial home since 2006 under the guid- ance of husband-and-wife owners Larry and Linda Chan.
“The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to downsize, which was probably for the best as my parents are getting older; the pandemic taught us to slow down and en- joy the present,” says manager Christina Chan. “We hope to continually provide quality Chinese cuisine in a much more intimate setting. Getting to know our cus- tomers and continuing to provide a part of our culture is what makes it rewarding for us, and it has been a blessing to relo- cate to Kaimuki.We hope everyone takes this time to reflect, be kind and create memories with loved ones.”
Xiao Long Bao ($8.95 for five pieces) are soup dumplings best enjoyed when the delicious morsels come out of the steamer piping hot.
