  Our owner Mr. Lee worked at multiple Ezogiku locations in Waikiki before branching out and opening Taiyo Ramen, naming the restaurant after his wife, Sun. Mr. Lee and his wife started the restaurant on their own barely speaking english with no previous business experience. Eventually all their hard work paid off as they're able to celebrate 28 years of a successful business!
Korean Fusion Ramen
On November 1, 1993, Taiyo Ramen opened with a background in preparing Korean cuisine, and created a very diverse menu with hints of Korean flavors in Japanese dishes. We have the classic Miso, Shoyu, Shio, and other unique flavors like Yuzu and Oxtail, which the owner makes from scratch everyday. However, our menu is not only Ramen, we also serve an assortment of rice and noodle dishes. We want to make sure there is always something for everyone.
Mabo Tofu Ramen $11.50
A savory, umami laden sauce with a hint of sweetness, combined with cubes of locally made tofu, and ground pork paired perfectly with freshly made ramen noodles. Each dish is made to order and spice levels are customizable.
Traditionally Mabo Tofu is made with ground pork, but due to popular demand we have created a seafood version. The most popular version of our Mabo Tofu is served over ramen noodles, but we also have rice and udon versions available.
