Waiolu Ocean Cuisine continues to expand its hours of operation, and diners are in for a treat as the restaurant is now open for lunch service.

Guests are invited to enjoy an intimate, romantic setting for two, or conversational-style sofa seating for pau hana outings or family get-togethers. Waiolu Ocean Cuisine is open Wednesdays through Sundays for lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and dinner is served from 4 to 9 p.m.

Situated on the sixth floor of the Trump International Hotel Waikiki, the restaurant features an open-air dining concept with a casual-yet-sophisticated vibe complete with a full bar, comfortable seating and plenty of space in which to enjoy the stellar menu items and picturesque views.

“We offer impeccable panoramic views and contemporary cuisine, including our sushi made from the freshest catches from the Pacific,” says Waiolu Ocean Cuisine chef Joseph Rose. “We are excited to expand our hours of operation to include lunch service, and we are working on a new dinner menu, wine list and sake list that will be available by the end of the month.”

Ahi Poke Nachos ($21)

Chips & Dip ($17) offers guests a flavorful appetizer as smoked kampachi dip pairs perfectly with housemade taro chips. Rose explains that this dish was so popular as part of dinner service, that it became a must-have option on the new lunch menu.

Ahi Poke Nachos ($21) is built with won ton chips, ogo, ginger, avocado, spicy sauce and kabayaki, and is great to share with the table or as a meal in itself. Lobster & Shrimp Roll ($34) is bursting with flavor as the rich lobster meat is coupled with poached shrimp, celery, lemon, mayo and parsley on a lightly toasted New England bun.

According to the restaurant’s director of sales and marketing Patsy Narimatsu,“the inspired menu begins with locally sourced ingredients for small plates, a modern take on sushi and market-driven seafood.”

The DIY Burger ($19) is an ideal choice as an 8-ounce dry-aged ground chuck patty is topped with lettuce, tomato, onion and one’s choice of American, Swiss, blue or cheddar cheese; for an additional $3 apiece, guests may also add a farm fresh egg, applewood smoked bacon, avocado and/or mushrooms to their customized burger.

Kalbi Ramen ($26) brings the flavor as grilled short ribs are served in a tonkotsu broth along with bok choy, kamaboko and soft-cooked egg.

Rose also reminds guests that “for some lively libations, experience the ‘Liquid Artistry’ found in Waiolu’s signature Ilikea’s Mai Tai,” which was named “World’s Best Mai Tai” in 2011.
