Zippy’s Fathers Day Special Menu: Braised Boneless Shortribs entree choice ($26.15, restaurant only)

In anticipation of this weekend’s Father’s Day festivities, Zippy’s Restaurants is serving up two popular dine-in specials crafted to appease the appetites of the entire ohana.

The culinary team at Zippy’s has created two special three-course meals that start off with a dinner roll, choice of soup or tossed salad and one’s selection of a large soft drink or coffee. Diners may select an entrée: Braised Boneless Shortribs ($26.15, restaurant only) topped with jardiniere sauce, and served with macaroni salad and a choice of starch; or broiled Garlic Rib Steak ($23.50, restaurant only) seasoned perfectly with garlic, topped with mushrooms and onions and served with corn and a choice of starch.

To conclude the Father’s Day meal, diners may choose from Strawberry Shortcake Fantasy, Brownie Delite — a chocolate or whole wheat brownie topped with a scoop of ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream, chopped nuts and a maraschino cherry — or Napple a la Mode. These can’t-miss Father’s Day specials are available Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Zippy’s dine-in restaurants only. Diners are reminded that prices may vary at different Zippy’s locations.

Throughout June, Zippy’s is offering a “Summer Cold Cash Giveaway” and will award two $5,000 grand prizes as part of the special promotion. Through June 30, diners who purchase a plate lunch, mini plate or daily special can also add a medium Pepsi for just 99 cents at the fast food counter.

ADA Kokua Pac ($7.50 fast food, $8.75 restaurant)

Zippy’s also is raising funds and awareness for American Diabetes Association (ADA) through July 31. There are three ways that diners and their families can show support for the campaign: First, pick up an ADA Kokua Pac for only $7.50 at the fast food counter and $8.75 in the restaurant. The special includes Korean fried chicken, one scoop of brown rice and tossed greens (no dressing) — this assortment aligns with the ADA’s dietary guidelines. Twenty five cents from each ADA Kokua Pac sold will be donated to the ADA. Guests also may purchase an ADA cut-out for $1 each or donate to designated boxes at each Zippy’s location.

Zippy’s continues to roll out new salad options to complement its extensive menu, including the restaurant’s Fresh Strawberry Salad ($8.75, restaurant only). Available through June 30, the salad incorporates Kunia Farms aquaponic greens topped with fresh strawberry slices, glazed pecans and a sweet vinaigrette dressing.

Kalua Pig Sliders with Barbecue Sauce (pictured is the restaurant single combo for $8.10) and Kalbi Sausage Sandwich ($6.95 fast food, $7.95 restaurant)

Diners will be excited to try the new Kalbi Sausage Sandwich ($6.95 fast food, $7.95 in the restaurant, available for a limited time), which features a delicious grilled Seoul Sausage Company kalbi sausage — one of the items featured on its winning run in the Food Network’s “Great Food Truck Race Season 3.” This tasty sandwich also is packed with kimchee, cole slaw as well as spicy mayo within King’s Hawaiian sweet rolls.

And be sure to check out Kalua Pig Sliders with Barbecue Sauce ($5.75 for one slider, $10.25 for two at fast food counter; $8.10 single combo or $13.75 double combo in restaurant; available for a limited time, 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. while supplies last). The tasty sandwich is built on a King’s Hawaiian sweet hamburger bun topped with kalua pig, lettuce, tomato and mayo. King’s Hawaiian Smoked Bacon Barbecue Sauce comes on the side. At the dine-in restaurants, it can be enjoyed as a sandwich combo with a choice of soup, tossed greens, fries, mac salad or potato salad.
