If you’ve ever hiked into Manoa Valley, you probably remember passing Treetops Restaurant in Paradise Park.

Nestled high above the trees, Treetops is found on the top floor of the two-story building there and offers one of the most unique dining experiences on Oahu, where you can enjoy a delicious local-style buffet ($18) with lush green views of the Manoa forest.

Treetops Restaurant first opened for business in 1968, and was most recently a Chinese buffet restaurant before changing ownership and shifting toward a local-style menu. The generous buffet spread includes teriyaki chicken, kalua cabbage pork, baked garlic fish fillets and more. In addition to the buffet, customers can order a la crate dishes such as Shrimp Plate ($13), Acai Bowl ($8) and Sesame Ginger Chicken ($12).

General manager Johnny Kai says Treetops just launched two things: a new website (treetopsrestauranthawaii.com), and a student discount to offer more affordable pricing for the younger college crowd. Anybody with a student ID can order the full buffet for $9.95 (regularly $18).

“UH Manoa is right next to us, and I know that students are always looking for new things to try out,” says Kai.

Kai also says Treetops has the perfect facilities and private rooms for students and faculty to hold parties and meetings. “We actually already have some faculty scheduling meetings, since Treetops is only a few miles away from school,” he says. Other promotions include the hiker’s special, where Manoa Valley hikers can order their second buffet order at half price.
