As families and friends across the state prepare to gather in celebration of Thanksgiving this Thursday, Napoleon’s Bakery is at the ready with an array of aptly themed dessert items that are sure to impress and satisfy many a craving at any holiday get-together.

Fittingly, pumpkin is utilized to perfection throughout the Napoleon’s Bakery line of featured Thanksgiving items, which are sure to create a buzz around any autumnal celebration’s table and are available through the remainder of November. Pumpkin Chiffon Pie ($9.75; prices may vary by location) offers a tasty twist on traditional pumpkin pie, and features the light and creamy texture chiffon pie is known for. Pumpkin Coffee Cake Square ($1.70 each) offers diners the adored taste of moist pumpkin cake accented with stripes of cream cheese filling and topped with streusel crumbs.

Napoleon’s Bakery also is rolling out a tantalizing new Pumpkin Cheesecake ($17.75), which is a special scoop for Dining Out readers and available Monday, Nov. 25 through the end of the month.

“We like to do something every month, and for the Thanksgiving (and) fall season, everything revolves around pumpkin,” says Jan Tsukazaki, general manager of Napoleon’s Bakery. “Our customers are local people, so we try to develop products with that in mind. We offer that consistent, fresh-baked, homemade flavor and have the advantage of so many locations so one doesn’t need to drive far to get their favorite items.”

Those with dietary restrictions need not fret, as Napoleon’s Bakery also offers sugar-free and sugar-alternative options without sacrificing flavor.

Pumpkin Delite Cake ($14.95) has no sugar added, and the 6 inch cake is flavored with pumpkin and spice, layered with vanilla sugar-free pudding and iced with a cinnamon-flavored, sugar-free vanilla whipped topping. One of Napoleon’s staples, Pumpkin Pie ($11.40), also is available with Equal brand sweetener, as is the traditional apple pie.

“We wanted to offer alternatives for those who need to watch their sugar intake, and even though they’re sugar-free, they taste really good!” Tsukazaki says.

Napoleon’s Bakery continues to serve up classic selections available throughout the year including Apple Pie ($9.50), Pumpkin Pie ($8.85) and Custard Pie ($8.85). All of these serve as ideal options for supplementing one’s Thanksgiving dessert lineup. Those who prefer cakes over pies are in luck, as Napoleon’s also offers such goodies as Chantilly and Dobash, as well as Dream Cake ($16.40) and Haupia Chocolate Cake ($14.95).

Napoleon’s Bakery also offers a host of Hot & Fresh items at select locations for those customers in pursuit of freshly made dessert treats.

The Hot & Fresh menu, which was initially launched more than a decade ago, is currently available at the following Zippy’s locations: Vineyard (newly renovated), Makiki, Wahiawa, Pearlridge, Koko Marina, Kailua, Kapolei, Mililani, Ewa, Kahului (Maui) and Hilo (Big Island).

Malasadas (79 cents each, $8.60 for a dozen; prices may vary by location) remain the top seller on the Hot & Fresh slate, and are available with traditional sugar or cinnamon coatings. Customers have made Napoleon’s malasadas the go-to treat for any occasion, including holiday celebrations, special occasions or family parties and get-togethers. The Portuguese doughnuts are deep fried until golden brown and rolled in sugar or cinnamon to sweeten each warm, doughy bite.

Andagi (78 cents each, $8.50 for a dozen; prices may vary by location), sweet deep-fried balls of dough, also are available from the Hot & Fresh menu. While they each offer distinct flavors to please a variety of tastes, Hot & Fresh items all include basic ingredients — flour, eggs, milk and sugar — without the need for preservatives.

“The Hot & Fresh items are not ‘fast food’ because we do cook the selections to order — there’s nothing like a hot malasada right out of the oven or fresh andagi right out of the fryer,” Tsukazaki says.

Hot & Fresh items are offered in addition to Napoleon’s Bakery’s well-established selection of desserts and treats, which include: cakes, pies, cookies, rolls, brownies, doughnuts and doughnut holes, and of course, Napples — flaky pastries made with apple, chocolate, coconut, blueberry cream cheese or cherry fillings.

Whether one stops in to enjoy a fresh malasada with a cup of morning coffee or desires a cake or pie to go, the friendly staffers at Napoleon’s Bakery are poised and ready to help.
