Pleasant lounge provides great cocktails, appetizers

Seared Tuna Bruschetta ($15)

A friendly, casual oasis, Sunset Lanai Lounge sits nestled on the lobby level above the Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant in Waikiki. This cocktail lounge offers gorgeous views, exotic tropical drinks and delec-table fare including appetizers. It is the ideal location to bring the gang to kick back and relax.

Among refreshing beverages available at the lounge is the Mai Tai ($11). This award-winning drink is crafted with Diamond Head Rum, Bacardi Amber, pineapple juice, Orgeat, sweet and sour mix and Orange Curacao.

The Honolulu ($10)

Meanwhile, an example of the delicious food served at the lounge is the Seared Tuna Bruschetta ($15). This item is made with diced Roma tomatoes, sliced avocado and basil, drizzled with a roasted garlic-wasabi aioli sauce.

The lounge offers its happy hour from 2 to 5 p.m. featuring Maui Brewing beers for $5, house wines for $6 and pupus for $6. It is also open for late lunch from 2 to 4 p.m. and has live entertainment Thursday-Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.

One of the top selling tropical drinks at Sunset Lanai Lounge — created by the establishment’s bartender Patty Shorter — is The Honolulu for $10 (at left). It has rum, guava juice and fresh sliced pineapple with a splash of Grenadine and passion fruit.
