A special birthday dinner spread to remember

Is it your birthday this month? Tanaka of Tokyo East wants to help you celebrate! The restaurant is offering a free Steak and Shrimp Dinner to anyone born in July. Like all of Tanaka of Tokyo’s entrees, this special birthday Steak and Shrimp Dinner comes with salad, teppanyaki vegetables, white rice, pickled vegetables, miso soup, Japanese green tea and dessert.

To redeem this offer, you must book a reservation date in the month of July, mention the July Birthday Special, and present your ID to your server. This special cannot be combined with any other offer. One free meal per party, and everyone needs to order a complete meal. The offer is only valid at Tanaka of Tokyo East, located at Ohana Waikiki East Hotel.

Steak and Shrimp Dinner (July birthday special)

Want a bit more seafood to go with your steak and shrimp? Try the Ahi Poke ($10.95). This classic Hawaii dish is made with fresh island tuna marinated in sesame seed oil and shoyu along with onions and a variety of spices.

Now with three locations, Tanaka of Tokyo has been serving locals and visitors quality teppanyaki for more than 40 years. The restaurant’s chefs offer more than just great food, but also a show. “The performance cooking done by our chefs tableside, and efficient and friendly service by our staff, makes a fun dining experience,” says vice-president Hiroshi Lamansky.

One of the most popular items at Tanaka of Tokyo is its interpretation a local favorite: Fried Rice ($4.75). Rice, egg and vegetables are teppan grilled at your table. “Our fried rice is really popular, and it’s fun to watch the chefs prepare it,” says Bo Tanaka, corporate general manager. “That’s where a lot of them show their creativity. They juggle things and create tricks with eggs.”
