Tasty treats in store for Mom and much more

May is shaping up to be an awesome month for moms, keiki and just everyone who loves hearty, filling food.

Zippy’s Restaurants has announced its Zippy’s Mother’s Day Special and May offers.

For starters, bring the whole family to Zippy’s dine-in restaurants and Mom gets a special treat. Moms can enjoy a free dessert with the purchase of an entree on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dessert includes choice of slice cake or pie (ask for selections of the day), strawberry gelatin, chocolate pudding or ice cream. This offer is valid at Zippy’s dine-in restaurants only. Other restrictions may apply.

Children will also benefit this month from a campaign sponsored by the eatery.

“In the month of May, Zippy’s Restaurants asks for your support for its campaign to raise funds for Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children, specifically for their Pediatric Cardiac Program,” shares Jay Crisologo, creative specialist for Zippy’s Restaurants. There are three ways to show your support: purchase a Kokua Pac, purchase a cut-out at any location for $1, or donate at designated canisters at all locations.

The Kokua Pac Bento ($7.99 fast food counter, $9.15 restaurant) includes Korean Chicken, Spam, Portuguese Sausage and Teriyaki Hot Dog, over a bed of white rice.

A portion of the proceeds of each Kokua Pac sold will be donated to Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children’s Pediatric Cardiac Program. This campaign ends May 31.

In another exciting development, back by popular demand, Zippy’s Garlic Miso Chicken ($9.25 fast food, $10.65 restaurant) makes a return engagement. In this dish, crispy, fried marinated chicken is drizzled with a miso mayo sauce, and sprinkled with green onions and sesame seeds. Zippy’s Garlic Miso Chicken plate is available at all locations daily, during its “specials hours” from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. while supplies last. Prices may vary at locations. This offer is available through June 30.

There’s more good news this month at Zippy’s Restaurants — old favorites are back for a limited time. They include the Breaded Mahi Plate ($13.75 fast food counter, $15.75 restaurant). The breaded mahi is fried to a golden crisp, then served with tartar sauce and a lemon wedge. For those who like to take matters into their own hands, there is the Breaded Mahi Sandwich ($7.75 fast food counter, $12.25 restaurant).

Another returning fan favorite is the Chef Salad ($9.95 fast food counter, $11.45 restaurant). The salad includes a bed of tossed greens topped with ham, turkey, shredded cheddar, tomato wedges, boiled egg, and served with a slice of garlic bread and your choice of dressing.
