Ala Carte Sushi

Serving up a bounty of local favorites including, but definitely not limited to, snow crab, Dungeness crab, softshell crab and prime rib this Japanese hot spot is winning the hearts of diners in Waikiki and beyond.

Kaku’s Sushi & Seafood Buffet, which was inspired by previous versions of the all-you-can-eat concept in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Waikiki, is located conveniently in the International Market Place on the picturesque third floor, and ample validated parking is available for just $2 for two hours. The concept is simple: find what you like on the expansive buffet, choose from the made-to-order sushi menu, and eat until content!

Buffet line

“There’s no all-you-can-eat sushi bar like this where you can also get snow crab and Dungeness crab, oysters, cocktail shrimp in addition to made-to-order steak and prime rib,” says assistant manager Julie Ishitsuka. “We also have a special shaved ice, so be sure to try that treat. Families are encouraged to have their special events here, we’re looking forward to hosting you.”

The spacious eatery seats 100 inside and another 100 outside, and Kaku’s Sushi & Seafood Buffet is a perfect destination for corporate outings, birthday gatherings and graduation parties.

Diners can enjoy an array of favorites for just $25 at lunch (11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.), and $50 during dinner service (5:30-9:30 p.m.) daily. For families, keiki under the age of 4 eat for free, and children 4-12 can enjoy the buffet for half the regular price.

As a pre-opening special, all adults can enjoy dinner for only $35 per person, and lunch for $20 per person (now through June 16). And, guests celebrating a birthday can do so for free along with at least five paying adults.

The ordering system at Kaku’s Sushi & Seafood Buffet is a breeze: diners can walk up to the buffet line and select favorites like crab, made-to-order steak, garlic shrimp, clams, shrimp tempura, pork cutlet, fried noodles, fried rice, chicken yakitori and more. The buffet also includes a cold station with salad, fresh fruit and dessert choices as well as cocktail shrimp and oysters — the combination of taste and value is unmatched.

In addition to the bountiful buffet, guests may also order sushi choices (part of the buffet price), including nigiri sushi (order one piece at a time) in multiple varieties such as tuna, salmon, shrimp and halibut. Hand rolls with spicy tuna, salmon skin and masago can be made to order, as well as sushi rolls (four pieces per order) including spicy salmon, spicy tuna, Japanese pickle, and during dinner service, hamachi and dragon-style rolls.

Sashimi Combination

During dinner service, guests are encouraged to order the sashimi set with fresh ahi, salmon and Japanese yellowtail prepared to order.

After a meal here, there’s no doubt one might have to go back to Kaku’s over and over in order to try all the popular dishes.
