Kapolei is considered the “second city” of Oahu, as the area is now filled with new shopping and dining destinations. With an abundance of places to explore and things to do, one needs to fuel his or her day with good food.

There are many dining options in the area, but Plantation Tavern located in Kapolei Shopping Center should be one’s first choice when craving local, island-style cuisine. Guests of Plantation Tavern can swim in a sea of tasty possibilities, including favorites like Especial Bagoong Fried Rice, Sunny’s Shrimp and Lechon Kawali.

Serving all of this and more, Plantation Tavern has been in business for almost five years.

Uncle Norm’s Poke Nachos (market price)

According to owner and chef Adam Gilbert, the restaurant’s mission is “to bridge the gap of old Hawaii (west Oahu) into new Hawaii (Kapolei).”

“The combination of menu selection, atmosphere, and service will create a sense of ‘place’ in order to reach our goal of creating a unique dining/entertainment experience in Kapolei using local, fresh, organic, sustainable, farm-to-table and quality driven food with aloha,” explains Gilbert.

FAR FROM THE ‘NORM’

When you want to add some crunch to your meal, reach for Plantation Tavern’s Uncle Norm’s Poke Nachos (market price), a unique dish consisting of fried wonton chips, diced Kamuela tomato, chunks of avocado and fresh poke (spicy or shoyu). Topping it all off is a tantalizing Sriracha aioli and unagi sauce, providing explosive bursts of flavor. Owner and chef Adam Gilbert notes this is the restaurant’s “number one selling dish.”
