Honey Glazed Char Siu and Roast Duck Over Rice ($6.95)

If you’re on the hunt for filling dim sum at some of the most affordable prices on the island, look no further than Golden Palace Seafood Restaurant. Delectable dim sum items such as manapua, pork hash and much more are available daily from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The locally family-owned restaurant churns out mouth-watering, authentic Chinese eats beyond its dim sum hours, with its regular menu boasting an impressive list of items.

A great place to start is with Honey Glazed Char Siu and Roast Duck Over Rice. For just $6.95, this admirable plate comes with a generous offering of sweet and savory char siu meat as well as juicy and tender cuts of duck, all atop a steaming bed of Jasmine rice surrounded by verdant choi sum.

Fried Taro Basket with Mixed Vegetables ($10.95)

General manager Gary Lam, the son of owner Howard Lam, shares that the char siu and roast duck are roasted in-house every day, so it is steaming hot and soft for customers who are ready to dig in.

Next up, check out Fried Taro Basket with Mixed Vegetables ($10.95) that Lam explains is a viable vegetarian option, but also a nice choice for meat eaters as there are several variations of this basket, which can include chicken, beef or mixed seafood. The vegetarian version includes shii-take and straw mushrooms, carrots and broccoli.

Chinese Chicken Salad with Jellyfish ($6.95)

The process, Lam says, is an intricate one for the chef. After slicing and shredding the taro, the chef shapes it and fries it in vegetable oil. Then, the vegetables get stir-fried and settled into their crisp resting place within the basket.

Other popular dishes include Chinese Chicken Salad with Jellyfish ($6.95) and Choi Sum with Shrimp ($8.95), both of which are lip-smackingly refreshing. The salad presents a pristine bite from the lettuce and a fun crunch from the wonton chips. The slivers of jellyfish offer a nice texture to the dish as well. Peanuts are also a part of this mix. However, they can be excluded upon customer request.

Choi Sum with Shrimp ($8.95)

Choi Sum with Shrimp is a colorful creation that is hearty and flavorful. The dish comprises shrimp, choi sum, straw mushrooms and carrots. It’s just the catch taste buds have been searching for.

Golden Palace’s extensive menu awaits diners’ exploration, and with these dishes and more, customers are sure to find exactly what they need.
