In 1965, a mother of two mortgaged her home and bought a small 60-person restaurant in Louisiana to help put her sons through college. On her first day of business, she sold steaks she personally cut and prepared for $5 apiece — something she had to learn on her own.
More than 50 years later, there are now more than 153 steakhouse locations worldwide, 77 of which are company owned and 76 of which are franchises.
Famous for succulent, juicy, sizzling steaks, the restaurant has become a household name where diners everywhere have grown accustomed to excellent service, an upscale atmosphere, and savory, carefully and expertly prepared cuisine.
This restaurant empire is globally recognized today as Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
Here on Oahu, Ruth’s Chris Steak House has two locations — one in Water-front Plaza and the other in Waikiki.

Both Ruth’s Chris Waikiki and Waterfront Plaza locations will open from 4 to 10 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and will be open on New Year’s Day, making it the perfect venue to celebrate another year.
