Booming new restaurant presents special congrats to grads

Since opening in January, Yum Cha Hawaii has be come a favorite for its tasty dim sum and traditional Hong Kong-style cuisine, as well as its adorable custard cream-filled Piggy Buns.

The restaurant also has been popular for large groups and parties, so with graduation season upon us, the local Chinese eatery has created a special graduation dinner menu priced at just $218 in honor of the graduates of 2018. The menu is for a table of 8-10 people, and available for a limited time. Reservations are required, and no outside drinks are allowed.

The menu features a mix of local favorites and classic Chinese dishes, including Chinese Chicken Salad, Seafood Tofu Soup, Salt and Pepper Pork Chops, Beef Broccoli, Crispy Chicken with shrimp chips, Stir-Fried Choi Sum with Garlic, Steamed Fish Fillet with Ginger Onion, Steamed White Rice and dessert.

Conveniently located on the ground floor of Uraku Tower on Kapiolani Boulevard near Ala Moana Center, with plenty of free parking below, Yum Cha Hawaii offers an elegant, modern and upscale setting that is spacious and inviting, along with an outdoor seating area with a relaxing view of the front courtyard of the luxury condo.

It’s also one of the few restaurants that serve dim sum all day, from open to close. In addition to the dim sum menu (which has about 60 different items), there also is an extensive menu of more than 100 authentic Chinese dishes, including some original and unique recipes, such as Sauteed Pork Jowl with Barbecue Sauce and Egg White ($18.95).

The chefs, who are all from Hong Kong, use local produce as much as possible, and no MSG. The duck, char-siu and roast pork are roasted fresh every morning.

Dine-in and enjoy Lobster Special featuring a 1-pound lobster for just $13.99 with the purchase of an entree of equal or higher value.

There also is a special happy hour menu from 4 to 6 p.m. daily, a full bar with a wonderful wine selection, specialty teas and live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
