A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: MANICHI SPECIAL ORIGINAL RAMEN ($13.25) AND MANICHI GYOZA ($5.50 REGULAR, 50-PERCENT-OFF WITH COUPON UNTIL JULY 23)

The kitchen wall at Ramen Manichi on Kona Street across from Ala Moana Center reads, “One heart, one soul, one bowl,” which accurately sums up what the humble gyoza and ramen shop is all about.

With a dedicated staff that emanates the rich history of the longstanding operation, which began as a pushcart in Fukuoka, Japan, back in 1953, the end product is pure genius — and deliciousness.

Slurp up a bowl of expertly crafted ramen, served in handmade, traditional Japanese ceramic bowls the color of the Rising Sun, and bask in the aroma of always-fresh, local ingredients. And don’t forget a side of Manichi Gyoza, which uses the same recipe from three generations of Ramen Manichi owners and originates from Manchuria, China. The gyoza, which has been dubbed “Japan’s No. 1 gyoza,” also will be 50 percent off until July 23 with the Dining Out coupon (see page 4) or by simply mentioning the deal.
