A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: SPICY PORK ($14.75)

On a typical weekday in a corner restaurant off of Nimitz Highway, you’ll find groups being seated for casual lunchtime work meetings, others enjoying a meal with the entire family and a few pairs of old friends just catching up.

There’s something magical about New Eagle Cafe — the longstanding eatery that generations of locals continue to rely on for unbelievably delicious comfort food. The restaurant draws customers in and welcomes them to eat, talk story and enjoy the moment.

Servers never rush you and you certainly never feel like you’ve overstayed your welcome.

With a melange of menu items from the cookbooks of Asian, Hawaiian, Portuguese and even Polish cultures, you could eat here for years and still have new dishes to try. But make sure you do order the limited-time-only Prime Rib for Two ($47) special, as well as mainstays such as Spicy Pork, Miso Butterfish Teishoku, Hot Roast Beef Sandwich, Mandoo Min and a heap of delicious breakfast items and daily specials.
