Laverne’s was launched in 2000, and the family business continues to please hungry customers under the guidance of owner and general manager Travis Paulo and his parents Laverne and Rene Paulo Jr.— the head chef. In addition to its popular lunch wagons, Laverne’s opened a takeout and casual sit-down eatery at New-town Golf Driving Range in Aiea earlier this year.

Diners have discovered new breakfast favorites including Taro Roll French Toast ($4.50). The dish is infused with cinnamon and vanilla, and is also served with whipped butter and chopped macadamia nuts — an incredible value to start the day on the right note.

The Laverne’s team also recommends Smoked Meat Fried Rice ($9). The restaurant smokes about 30-40 pounds of meat daily as one of the top sellers, and uses kiawe and hickory woods over four hours of smoking to add “a nice smoky flavor and aroma” to this local favorite.

Teri Beef Sandwich ($4.75)

Laverne’s signature teriyaki sauce is used to build the popular Teri Loco Moco ($9). The hearty dish is constructed with two scoops of rice and two eggs, and features hints of garlic and ginger for added flavor. Teri Beef Sandwich ($4.75) incorporates the same signature sauce along with succulent sliced ribeye.

“We’re going on 18 years in business now, and we take a lot of pride in being a family-run-and-operated restaurant,” Paulo says. “Our goal is to give the best service and best quality food possible.”
