It’s late afternoon and you’ve just enjoyed a fantastic day playing in the ocean somewhere on West Oahu. Your tummy is grumbling for something savory; your palate sings for something sweet and icy cold. You’re craving a simple meal that’s simply ono (delicious).
What do you do? Grab a burger and shake at La Hiki Kitchen’s “Shake It Up” happy hour at Ko Olina’s Four Seasons Resort for just $20.
Nothing is more all-American than a burger, but this is no ordinary burger. With bacon jam, aged Gouda, cabbage and two enormous pickles, the enticing Chef’s Burger (regularly $27) is a half-pound beef patty on a brioche bun, designed to satisfy and perfect to share.
“There’s a secret ingredient in the burger mix, but I’ve been told not to reveal it!” chuckles Yvonne Hunter, director of public relations with Four Seasons.
And then there’s the icy treat that gives this event its name: La Hiki Kitchen’s Milk Shake (regularly $12), available in strawberry, French vanilla, Oreo cookie, or miso butterscotch flavors. “People are raving about these milk-shakes!” enthuses Hunter, noting that a shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream, Bulleit Bourbon or Old Lahaina Rum may be added for just $6 more.
If you’re still hungry after you “Shake It Up,” try Banana Cream Pie ($14), created by in-house pastry chef Helen Hong, with caramelized bananas, whipped cream and a spectacular pastry piecrust.
What a perfect way to end a perfect day: enjoying a simply delicious meal in an elegantly mellow setting with a world-class view.
And if you haven’t already made plans, La Hiki Kitchen will host a lavish brunch buffet on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18 ($75 adults, $35 keiki ages 5-12, $15 keiki under 5). The first seating is at 11 a.m., and the last seating is at 2 p.m. Call 679-0079 for Father’s Day reservations, or book online at lahikirestaurant.com.
