Local Bakery Puts The Icing On The Cake

By crafting its signature treats and decadent desserts with quality and consistency, Napoleon’s Bakery continues to serve as Hawaii’s “sweet spot” when it comes to special events, celebrations and everyday indulgences.

“Our cakes are made from scratch,” says Jan Tsukazaki, general manager of Napoleon’s Bakery, who initially managed the bakery division at Zippy’s Restaurants in 1983. “It may be a bit more costly than what you’ll find at the big box stores or supermarkets, but you can’t find the recipes we’ve been using for over 30 years there. Our customers recognize the quality we provide, and they know what they order is going to be really good.”

Napoleon’s Bakery offers custom decorated cakes for various occasions, including family gatherings, birthdays and highly anticipated graduation parties. Sheet cakes are available in plain configuration that includes a choice of border color and wording in quarter sheet (24 pieces, $25 and up), half sheet (48 pieces, $43.50 and up) and full sheet (96 pieces, $80.25 and up) sizes.

Decorated sheet cakes include a standard decoration (choice of roses, lei or celebration designs), a photo (licensed or original photo) or a combination of both artistic elements (see the bakery clerk for more details, or when ordering online, make a note in the “instructions” area). The stunning-yet-delicious decorated cakes are available in quarter sheet (24 pieces, $42 and up), half sheet (48 pieces, $65.75 and up) and full sheet (96 pieces, $109 and up) layouts.

Guests may order the custom cakes via NapoleonsBakery.com, or at any Napoleon’s Bakery location at least three to five days in advance. As a reminder, custom decorated cakes are available at Oahu locations only.

“Customers are particular when it comes to including specific decorations, and we can provide multiple options,” Tsukazaki explains. “If they want, for instance, a picture of a graduate alongside a baby picture, the school colors and the year, we can do all of that for them.”

In honor of Mother’s Day, Napoleon’s Bakery is ready to help celebrate moms in a way that is sure to please the entire family: with cake. Diners may choose from favorites including Decorated Mother’s Day Dobash Cake ($17.25) and Decorated Peach Bavarian Cake ($18.75). These specialty desserts will be available May 13 and 14 at all Oahu Napoleon’s Bakery locations in time for the very special occasion, and as a reminder, prices may vary.

Napoleon’s Bakery also has introduced a quartet of tasty chocolate-themed creations available throughout May. Diners can indulge in Oreo Cookies ‘N Cream Cake ($19.25), Chocolate Pie ($9.45), Triple Chocolate Loaded Donut ($1.95) and Double Chocolate Coffee Cake Square ($2.15).
