Miso Ramen ($10)

In light of the recent rainy weather, if customers are craving ramen or wanting to get their noodle fix, Junpuu provides the perfect solution. Customers can cozy up to a steaming bowl of the savory soup and rest assured that the flavors can’t be beat.

According to Junpuu owner Eiji Kato, the two most popular menu items are Miso Ramen ($10) and Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen ($9.50). He explains that the bases of both ramen dishes are similar, but each entrée has notable differences.

You’ll find Junpuu on the bottom level of the Medical Arts Building on King Street.

“Of the two, our Tonkotsu Ramen is more popular,” he says. “That dish features straight-up pork broth, so you can really enjoy the flavor. Our Miso Ramen has lots of miso flavor. If you like miso, this ramen is perfect for you.”

Junpuu opens at 11 a.m. daily and last call is 9 p.m. Kato says that the restaurant doesn’t close in between lunch and dinner, inviting customers to take advantage of the afternoon lull.

To encourage more customers to come in during the late afternoon and early evening, Junpuu is currently offering a free three-piece gyoza special after 2 p.m.

“Our coupon for the free three-piece gyoza can be found in Dining Out (see page 19),” Kato says. “Customers can bring in the coupon and get the three-piece gyoza with the purchase of any ramen. This promotion is valid for the entire month of May.”

Escape the rain at this cozy ramen shop.

Kato also reassures customers that parking isn’t a problem at Junpuu. During the week, the restaurant validates parking for an hour until 5 p.m., and parking is free in the lot after that time. On the weekend, Junpuu validates parking for an hour until noon, and parking is free for customers after that time.
