Tempura is one of those foods that is so universally loved that restaurant group Pierthirty had the idea to create a whole eatery dedicated to it. That venture is Tempura Ichidai, which offers an authentic tempura bar experience.

“From their seats, guests can watch our chefs as they delicately fry fresh meats, seafood and vegetables before they are delivered hot to their table,” explains chef Susumu Mizui. “We want customers to enjoy the fresh and crispy tempura.

“(We) fry tempura in front of you and serve you over the counter little by little,” Mizui adds. “There is absolutely no time for fried tempura sitting in the kitchen before serving.”

Beyond tempura, the restaurant also has a selection of sushi, sashimi, udon and nabe options.

Plus, Tempura Ichidai constantly is cooking up new dishes, rolling out a new offering every three months. The restaurant also creates special menus for holidays and the various seasons.

GIRLS, SPRING COLLECTIONS

One of the seasonal options you can enjoy now includes the Girl’s Day Menu ($35), featuring chirashi sushi, salad udon, clam soup, assorted tempura, a small appetizer, chawanmushi and dessert. Today is the last day this menu will be offered.

Then there’s the Spring Menu ($35), which is offered through May 31, featuring tuna nigiri and roll sushi, udon with clams, assorted tempura, a small seasonal appetizer and chawanmushi.
