Continuing to serve up local-style comfort food at affordable prices, New Eagle Cafe remains a mainstay among multiple generations of hungry patrons.
The popular dining destination is located in Nimitz Center, conveniently situated along Nimitz Highway in the heart of one of Honolulu’s bustling business and industrial districts. Owner Tae Im took over operations four years ago and continues the restaurant’s legacy of serving stellar local-style favorites and providing excellent customer service. The restaurateur is well aware of the positive reputation New Eagle Cafe has established through many decades in Honolulu and is committed to continuing the locale’s tradition of serving Island residents and visitors.
“We offer a friendly, local-style atmosphere,” Im says. “I definitely want to continue the tradition of the restaurant and carry the torch.”
Customers look forward to the eatery’s tasty creations, including Mandoo Min ($10.95), a hearty bowl of noodles with fish cake, pork, green onions, sliced egg and large dumplings placed within a tasty broth. The restaurant also offers complete meal sets like Miso Butterfish Teishoku ($25), a tantalizing combination of rich and flavorful butterfish along with shrimp and vegetable tempura, ahi sashimi, miso soup, rice, tsukemono, tossed salad and a beverage.
Diners can look forward to rotating daily specials such as: Roast Turkey with Stuffing and Gravy ($15.25, available Sunday and Wednesday); Seafood Curry with lobster, calamari and shrimp ($18.25, available Monday and Wednesday); and Kalua Turkey Sandwich and Soup with fries, tossed salad or macaroni salad ($11.60, available Thursday), among others.
In addition to the excellent value offered via so many stellar a la carte selections, diners also can take advantage of New Eagle’s “complete meal deal” for an additional $4.75, coupled with any lunch or dinner entree purchase. With the meal deal, customers receive a choice of tossed house salad or soup of the day along with a selection of coffee, hot tea, iced tea or a fountain drink, as well as one’s pick of various pies, ice cream, sherbet or Jell-O for dessert.
The cozy restaurant also is known for its succulent Roast Prime Rib, which is available a la carte, or via tasty menu creations. Some options include Roast Prime Rib Sandwich with Soup of the Day ($14.55) with fries, tossed salad or macaroni salad, as well as Prime Rib and Eggs Benedict ($17.75), a popular breakfast choice. Customers also are encouraged to take advantage of New Eagle’s special Roast Prime Rib for Two ($45, add $9.50 per slice for a double cut), which includes tossed salad or soup of the day, a beverage and dessert.
