A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: Fried Fish with Sweet Vinegar & Onion ($12.99 special, $18.99 regular)
Coming up to its sixth anniversary, Canton Seafood Restaurant off Keeaumoku Street is celebrating in its usual giving way — with tons of entree specials and discounted prices.
When you’re in the Cantonese-style eatery, you’re home, which is evident from the crowd of regulars who dine there frequently, sometimes on a daily basis. Staff can be heard greeting customers like family, seating them in their “usual” spot and reciting their orders from memory.
Just like at many Chinese restaurants, the food is best enjoyed when shared, which is why Canton Seafood takes special care in its family-style dishes.
Feast on Fried Fish with Sweet Vinegar & Onion, and Live Maine Lobster, both of which are on special this month. The lobster can be prepared with various seasonings, including ginger and green onion; black bean sauce; butter garlic; and salt and pepper. It’s currently priced at $14.99 instead of $19.99 (with the purchase of one entree).
The same goes for Canton Crispy Chicken, which regularly is $12.99 for half a chicken, but currently is only $4.99 when you order an entree.
The best part about Canton Seafood is that it’s not just for elaborate family dinners, but also is perfect for a quick meal during your lunch break. The eatery, easily accessible from most Honolulu businesses, offers more than 50 lunch specials, with everything discounted and delicious. Try Pan Fried String Bean with Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork or Young Chow Fried Rice, each for just $7.99. Or, opt for Pork Chop with Black Pepper, Mongolian Satay Beef or Kung Pao Chicken for $8.50 each during lunch. All lunch specials come with rice and soup.
