From the moment that Café Lani Hawaii opened in January 2016, it drew in the crowds. Lines out the door appeared almost immediately. While that often is the case for new restaurants, Café Lani is now more than a year old and its popularity is as strong as ever.

Created by Japan-based company Pierthirty, Café Lani offers a range of Italian-inspired dishes including pastas, salads, pizzas, seafood and steak entrees, and more. It also has special menus for each season (the spring one will launch March 1), as well as for holidays throughout the year. One of the things Café Lani has become most noted for is its selection of all-youcan-eat bread and pastries, which servers deliver fresh-out-of-the-oven as you dine. (Now it also offers its bread to go: cafelanihawaii.com/bread-to-go/.)

GO VEGETARIAN

Café Lani has a number of veggie dishes, including Margherita Pizza ($12.50), which features mozzarella, fresh basil, Parmesan cheese and marinara sauce atop a house-made pizza dough. And if you’re trying to be really healthy, try Healthy Green Salad ($15.50), which is filled with tofu, quinoa, bell pepper, broccoli, cherry tomato, asparagus and lotus root. The best part? You can still stick to your vegetarian diet while partaking in Café Lani’s selection of bread.
