A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: “Trust Us Special” ($16, pictured with substituted Krazy Rice)
Kau Kau Grill’s menu is by no means long. Nevertheless, customers may still find it hard to decide what to eat, seeing as the eatery’s offerings are stacked with the Islands’ ultimate local favorites.
Thankfully, options such as “Trust Us Special” ($15) help make the decision-making process easier, as the plate lunch asks patrons to “trust” Kau Kau Grill to make the right choices for them — which, in this case, includes irresistible Barbecue Baby Back Ribs and Garlic Shrimp.
The business began in 2013 with a loyal customer base ordering their plate lunches from the side window of Kau Kau Grill’s food truck — which is still in operation Monday to Friday at Hawaii Foreign Trade Zone, Pier No. 2. The addition of the eatery’s storefront in Mapunapuna, which is manned by manager Ryan Souza, is an added bonus for the workers in the area, as well as another option for locals to get their Kau Kau Grill fix.
Kau Kau’s food comes from the recipes of local boys and co-owners Miles Oyasato and Ty Takishita, plus all sauces and marinades are homemade, adding the extra quality and love that local eating spots should have.
The eatery also caters, providing delicious fare to your events and parties with items such as Pulehu Beef Short Ribs, Smoked Meat, Fried Saimin, Garlic Chicken and more. To inquire, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
