The best part about going to a buffet is getting to pick and choose your favorite dishes. At Makino Chaya, arrive with an appetite and dive into an all-you-can-eat spread where you can grab a little of everything, whether it’s fresh cuts of salmon, hamachi and ahi sashimi, or sushi rolls and nigiri.
Every weekend from Friday through Sunday, there’s an assortment of roasted meats like roast beef and ribs at the carving station. Perfect for both small and large parties for any occasion, Makino Chaya remains a popular staple for locals in the nearby Aiea community, who love finding so much variety on the buffet line.
The regular dinner price is $32.98, but from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, the Early Bird Special is available for $22.98.
General manager Chris Mitchell says that lobster baked in a decadent mushroom cream sauce is back in season and available for dinner (excluded from Early Bird Special). Customers are allowed to indulge and order two half lobsters at a time, as many times as they want.
“Our newest items are the shave ice and spicy chicken wings,” says Mitchell. The shave ice is available in coconut, blue vanilla and strawberry flavors, and is a refreshing addition to the dessert bar. Other items on the dessert bar are a frozen yogurt station, a chocolate fountain, lemon bars and much more.
And the best part? You can go back for seconds, thirds or more.
