As an iconic staple of Waikiki, Wailana Coffee House is a favorite among locals and tourists alike, offering taste bud-friendly fare like no other.
The local-style diner’s menu features something for everyone to enjoy, such as fried saimin, loco moco, roasted chicken and steak dishes. According to owner and manager Kenton Tom, giving menu items a homemade touch is the way to go.
“If you look deep into our menu, we make a lot of our items ourselves,” Tom says. “We make our own pancake batter and gravy, it’s not (made from) dehydrated products where you add water to it. We make our cutlets, beef stew and chili ourselves. That gives a little uniqueness of flavor and taste.”
It’s that uniqueness that has been bringing customers back for generations, appealing to those both young and young at heart. And since today is National Grandparents Day, Wailana Coffee House is paying a tasty tribute to our kupuna from 11 a.m. to midnight.
“Grandparents are special, and they should be appreciated,” adds Tom. You can show your gratitude to Grandma and Grandpa by bringing them down to the friendly restaurant to enjoy some unforgettable specials.
Your kupuna are sure to love Roast Tom Turkey with Smoked Ham ($15.50), served with 4 ounces of turkey and 1 ounce of ham. The dish also comes with macadamia nut stuffing, good ol’ giblet gravy, a grilled pineapple ring and tasty cranberry sauce.
In the mood for barbecue? Order a round of Barbecue Hickory Smoked Ribs ($15.75), a classic that’s smothered with yummy barbecue sauce and slowly baked until extra tender and flavorful.
Other offerings include Poached Mahi Mahi Florentine ($16.95) and Wailana’s famous breakfast special, Eggs Benedict Royal ($12.50).
All holiday entree specials come with a choice of starch, corn on the cob, salad bar or soup of the day and dessert. Validated parking is available on Ena Road.
