A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: Spicy Miso ($9.95) and Healthy Herb ($8.95)

Looking for some hot pot indulgences? You’ll find them along South King Street, where a beloved eatery keeps food enthusiasts coming back again and again.

Sweet Home Cafe, a healthy and natural Taiwanese hot pot restaurant, first arrived on the dining scene in 2008 and took on new ownership in January of last year. No big changes here, as hot pot lovers still can have a taste of their longtime favorites, along with some new yummy specialties.

“We continue what the previous owner was selling,” says chef and manager Takuto Yasuda. “We have a lot of homemade sauces and soups that (the previous owner) brought in from Taiwan, and we created some here for the local palate as well.”

The new additions include Tonkatsu and Spicy Miso soups. To celebrate its eight-year anniversary, the restaurant now is offering a $15 all-you-can-grab special every day from 4 to 5:30 p.m., until Aug. 31. The special includes a choice of broth and a small serving of rice, along with $3 meat-plate options.

With 14 flavorful homemade soups and more than 100 sides to choose from, Sweet Home Cafe offers nothing but a smorgasbord of taste bud-friendly fare.
