Kids and seniors alike can take advantage of special discounts at modern Japanese restaurant Odoriko. According to president Hiro Takei, Kids Bentos are usually $9.95 (ages 10 years and under), but during Family Sundays, they’re available for $5.

“In every bento, you get potato wedges, gyoza pot-stickers, arabiki sausage and a rice ball (onigiri),” he explains. “You also have a choice of beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki, chicken karaage, vegetable croquette or char siu. It’s a pretty hefty meal, and the most popular choices are the chicken teri and chicken karaage.”

Family Sundays started in February, and Takei says he’s gotten positive feedback from parents.

“The Kids Bento is nice because it’s a set box,” he says. “Parents told me it’s good to have a dining option that’s family-friendly.”

In addition to Family Sundays, Takei encourages customers to join Odori-ko on Senior Tuesdays. Customers ages 60 and older can enjoy entrees at a discounted rate all day on Tuesdays, including Oxtail Soup ($14, regularly $17.95), Oxtail Ramen ($16, regularly $19.95) and Unajyu ($15, regularly $24.95).

“One of our most popular items available on Tuesdays for seniors is our Sushi Teishoku ($19.95, regularly $32.50),” Takei says. “It has sashimi (tuna, salmon, hamachi, ikura) and a piece of egg omelet; shrimp and vegetable tempura and kake udon, which is plain udon noodles in a hot soup.

“This teishoku option is a good one because it has a little bit of everything,” he adds.

Customers who dine at Odori-ko on Sundays through Thursdays can take advantage of the restaurant’s complimentary valet service, available from 5 to 9 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, there’s a $5 valet charge.

“You just drive into our driveway in front of the restaurant, and we’ll take care of your vehicle at no charge,” Takei confirms.
