A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: Surf n’ Turf ($15.95)

With a new chef in town, GRYLT is looking to turn things up a notch with the best in fresh and local ingredients on its menu of healthy yet convenient fare.

Corporate executive chef Jose Arias joined GRYLT’s energetic team about six months ago. As a graduate of Johnson & Wales University’s Food Service Management program, Arias earned a degree in wellness and sustainability while on the mainland, and now is eager to make an impact on the dining industry here in Hawaii.

“I was really excited to work with (GRYLT),” says Arias. “You get to work with local ingredients and experience what Hawaii has to offer, in terms of cuisine.”

Catering to both carnivores and herbivores, GRYLT serves up everything from vegan-friendly temptations and gluten-free items to rich proteins like meat and seafood that are free of chemicals or hormones.

The eatery looks forward to incorporating a rotating seasonal menu, which will include new salads, salad-of-the-month specials, side dishes and even breakfast options.

With three locations — Ala Moana Center, Kailua Shopping Center and Kahala Mall — GRYLT welcomes locals and visitors alike to take a bite of its tasty and wholesome flavors.

This week, Dining Out features the popular Surf n’ Turf dish. All ingredients are made from scratch, complete with tasty ahi and steak, along with your choice of side salad or garden veggies (garden veggies and kale mix pictured), one choice of starch and sauces (Asian-fusion and roasted chili sauces pictured).
