Hungry Patrons Are In For A Winning Streak

Though Zippy’s Restaurants is known for passing on amazing value to its abundance of loyal customers year-round, the kickoff to 2016 is an especially good time to visit the popular island dining chain, as it’s hosting some incredible offers you won’t want to miss.

As Zippy’s looks forward to marking 50 years of serving local families this year, it once again is partnering with Vacations Hawaii to bring together kamaaina’s favorite flavors with their No. 1 travel destination through a Las Vegas Giveaway Promotion. With any purchase, you can fill out an entry form for your chance to win one of the grand-prize trips for two from the Aloha State to “the Ninth Island.”

“To coincide with our upcoming 50th anniversary in October this year, we are starting the new year by giving away 50 trips to Las Vegas, which equates to 25 trips for two,” explains marketing manager Jeanine Mamiya-Kalahiki.

The lucky winners of the promotion, which runs until Feb. 14, will travel to and from fabulous Las Vegas aboard Vacations Hawaii’s Wide Body 767 airplanes and stay at the popular California Hotel & Casino. Vacations Hawaii sales and promotions manager Kevin Kane-shiro says California Hotel & Casino currently is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation, so winners will be able to enjoy a modern ambiance, while soaking up the all-inclusive package prize. He adds that recipients even can savor Zippy’s famous chili if they choose to visit one of the casino’s restaurants. “Vacations Hawaii caters to kamaaina residents,” he says.

To go along with this jet-setting promotion, Zippy’s is bringing back its Spaghetti & Chicken Mixed Plate ($6.99 fast-food counter, $7.99 dine-in restaurant; available through Jan. 31), which pairs its beloved fried chicken with spaghetti topped with a choice of meat sauce or Zippy’s chili. The dish also comes with macaroni salad and garlic bread. “We bring it back every January to start the new year with something awesome and reasonably priced,” shares Mamiya-Kalahiki.

The year already is looking tastier than ever thanks to the host of additional value items Zippy’s is offering throughout the beginning of 2016.

Follow through on your resolution to eat more veggies with Mandarin Orange & Fried Chicken Salad ($9.95, restaurant only), served until Jan. 31. The salad instantly enlivens diners with golden, crispy pieces of chicken served on a bed of Kunia aquaponic greens, red onions, bacon bits and croutons. Bright mandarin orange wedges not only add color, but juicy bursts of flavor as well, while sweet vinaigrette dressing completes the meal.

Stop in before Feb. 29 for an indulgent bite of Haupia Chocolate Waffle and Haupia Chocolate Pancakes ($7.45 each, restaurant only). “Our Haupia Chocolate Waffles is another favorite and now comes with the option of having (the toppings) with our fluffy pancakes instead,” explains Mamiya-Kalahiki, when describing the breakfast must-haves covered with haupia sauce, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate syrup.

Zippy’s also invites diners to try its Patty Melt Combo ($9.95, restaurant only) and Tuna Melt Combo ($8.75, restaurant only), which are relatively new additions to the menu. The tuna option is now better than ever with a revised recipe served on grilled bread with American cheese and side of your choice. As for the Patty Melt, it continues to please with broiled hamburger patties, grilled onions and thousand-island dressing — all on top of grilled rye bread — with a choice of side.

Sweetening the deal, these selections are just the beginning of the good eats and specials to come as the year progresses. “Leading up to the anniversary, we will continue to offer our customers fun and exciting promotions and menu items. Stay tuned!,” says Mamiya-Kalahiki.
