A CLOSER LOOK AT THIS WEEK’S HOUSE SPECIAL: Paella Valenciana ($28)

After a day of enjoying the North Shore’s rolling waves and stunning sunsets, nothing beats a plate of muy bueno food from Luibueno’s Mexican and Latin Cuisine.

Taryn Silva and husband Luis started Luibueno’s as a catering business in 2004 before expanding with a full-service restaurant in 2010. The Haleiwa eatery offers the best in Baja-style Mexican recipes, with a delicious dose of European and Latin influences.

“We’re unique; we’re not your everyday Mexican restaurant,” says Taryn. “We really try to do creative, fun, more contemporary-styled Mexican and Latin dishes.”

One of Luibueno’s most popular dishes is Paella Valenciana. This beloved creation can satisfy both hungry eyes and stomachs, as it’s perfectly made with saffron-spiced short-grain rice topped with shrimp, clams, mussels, scallops, calamari, chicken, chorizo and peas.

In the near future, customers can look forward to new dishes on the soon-to-be-updated menu.
