L&L Hawaiian Barbecue continues to serve up local favorites — including options for diners looking to start 2016 on a healthy note — both in Hawaii and around the world.
The blossoming restaurant chain has flourished throughout its 40-year history and now includes more than 60 Hawaii franchises, restaurants in multiple states along the West Coast — as well as in New York, Texas and Tennessee — and locations in Japan, China, Indonesia, Guam, Philippines and Malaysia — with more to come in 2016.
Healthier options have become popular among diners looking to eat better in the new year, and L&L Hawaiian Barbecue couples value and great taste in meals that include a scoop of brown rice and a hearty blend of mixed greens. Diners return often for the healthier versions of Barbecue Chicken, Garlic Shrimp or Garlic Ahi (prices vary by location), which pack plenty of protein and flavor into each bite.
L&L also is home to the innovative Ramen Burger (price varies by location), and customers are clamoring for the intriguing sandwich that has spawned a food frenzy. The eye-catching “burger” incorporates ramen noodles (which also are used at the restaurant for saimin) that are prepared specially to remain soft enough to eat while retaining a “bun” form. Customers choose from a hamburger patty, barbecue chicken or teriyaki beef (some franchises also offer a veggie burger option), and the meat is topped with green onions, savory teriyaki sauce and lettuce to compose the sandwich.
Diners are encouraged to stop by their favorite L&L location, including Kahala Mall, and enter to win two tickets to the Pro Bowl along with two Pro Bowl Party tickets, exclusive VIP access for two to attend the Pro Bowl practice and pre-game access to high-five players as they enter the field. A winner will be chosen among Hawaii locations, so visit your nearest L&L location for more details.
