There aren’t many restaurants that are as dedicated to its employees and customers as Big City Diner. With six locations around Oahu, the family diner never disappoints — from heaping servings of delicious meals to outstanding service every visit. It is a place you will want to visit again and again.

With the holiday season in full gear, Big City Diner takes great pride in its full catering menu. Today in Dining Out, president and owner Lane Muraoka shares Big City Cobb Salad ($59.95), Baby Back Ribs With Our Famous Guava Barbecue Sauce ($84.50) and Mama’s Bread Pudding ($32.75).

Whether it’s for your next office party, family gathering or something to bring to a potluck, these creations aim to please. Start off with Big City Cobb Salad, which is packed with tons of brightly flavored ingredients for patrons to enjoy.

The salad is served with hickory-smoked turkey, country-style ham, roasted corn, diced tomatoes, black olives, California avocado and red onions on a bed of romaine. Options for dressing are ranch, blue cheese, thousand island and more.

Now, for the main course: Baby Back Ribs. You really can’t go wrong with ribs, especially when they are oven roasted for up to five hours and the meat practically falls off the bone. This dish also can be cut up and served as a pupu, and it feeds 12-15 people.

“Customers love the ribs because of the flavor,” says Muraoka. “We use baby back ribs so it’s a lot meatier, juicier and tender.”

We mustn’t forget about dessert. Bread pudding always is an all-around favorite, but when it’s made with special haupia creme sauce, you’ll never want to go back to the traditional style.

This mouthwatering dessert is topped with roasted macadamia nuts and powdered sugar and can be served a la mode (only when ordered in the restaurant).

What’s best about any of Big City Diner’s catering platters is that they all make for the best leftovers — and let’s be honest, lots of leftovers are one of the best things about the holiday season!
