World-renowned restaurateur Wolfgang Zwiener is known for his countless steak houses, but now he also is known for Il Lupino Trattoria & Wine Bar — affectionately referred to as his “baby,” because it is his only Italian restaurant.

Il Lupino’s menu offers the best in authentic Italian cuisine. It celebrates the freshest ingredients, seafood, pasta (made daily) and exceptional wine. What’s more is that it is served in a relaxing yet sophisticated atmosphere in the heart of Waikiki.

About to celebrate its fifth anniversary Dec. 24, Il Lupino recently introduced its tapas menu, otherwise known as happy hour, served daily from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Unlike any other tapas menu, the eatery’s presents a gourmet selection, ranging from lamb to bruschetta and, of course, one of Waikiki’s finest wine lists.

PASTA PICKS

For something light and refreshing, Orecchiette Crudaiola ($15 lunch, $20 dinner) is a delectable pasta that plates arugula, diced grape tomatoes and basil. All the ingredients are mixed with olive oil, garlic and topped with ricotta salata.

When you’re craving seafood and feeling a little adventurous, try Spaghetti Ai Frutti Di Mare ($20 lunch, $30 dinner), which dazzles with a blend of fresh seafood in white wine pomodoro sauce.

“Guests love the fresh seafood, especially because some people come from places where they can’t get any,” says manager Malia Prioletti. “They can taste the freshness right away.”
