To say there’s a lot to choose from at Fairwood Drive Inn & Pho 27 Café would be an under-statement. There are more than 100 items combined, with dishes ranging from local staples — like Hamburger Steak and Katsu Curry — to Chinese and Vietnamese favorites.

Suffice to say, everyone will find something to enjoy.

Located in Kaimuki Shopping Center with ample parking, Pho 27 — the restaurant within Fairwood Drive Inn — recently revamped its menu to include Hong Kong favorites. Among these newer dishes is Mixed Grill Steak ($13.95), which owner Tiffany Ko points to as a crowd favorite.

It’s a pretty carnivorous platter with chicken, pork chop, New York steak, ham and a hot dog, served with broccoli, tomatoes and french fries — which may be substituted for rice. All of that arrives to the table atop a sizzling plate, and diners get to choose between three sauces: tomato, onion or black pepper.

Also available at Pho 27 Café is Cold Rice Noodle with Spring Rolls and BBQ Pork ($10.95). A cool and refreshing dish, it starts with a bed of lettuce that then is topped with bean sprouts and cold noodles, along with cucumber, pickled carrots, basil and, of course, BBQ pork. Topped with crushed peanuts, it also is served with two spring rolls.

Or, check out Fairwood Drive Inn’s newest special, Salt Pepper Pork Chop ($9.95), which Ko says has been popular with diners. Simply cooked with a salt-and-pepper chili sauce, it’s served with rice and mac salad.

An added bonus to dining at Fairwood Drive Inn & Pho 27 Café? You also can order takeout for anything on the menu.
