As the business community takes time this week to recognize some of the office all-stars who help companies run smoothly, Pomaikai Ballrooms has compiled an all-star roster of local entertainers coupled with stellar cuisine for what is sure to be a memorable Administrative Professionals Day celebration.

Situated conveniently on the second floor of Dole Cannery in Iwilei, Pomaikai Ballrooms offers elegance and style, along with a warm, inviting atmosphere without the stress of fighting traffic into and out of Waikiki.

On Wednesday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Pomaikai Ballrooms is hosting a special Administrative Professionals Day luncheon emceed by Krater 96.3’s “Hammertime” trio of Davey D., Gregg Hammer and Shawnee. The memorable experience is just $43 per person (price inclusive, $3 validated parking available) and also will include entertainment by Ben and Maila, Jeff Rasmussen and Robi Kahakalau, and Waipuna. The stellar lineup of performers will complement a menu bursting with local flavors and Pacific Rim cuisine crafted by executive chef Freddie Billena and sous chef Eddy Ayau.

Reservations can be made by calling 695-4443 or 695-4376; the last day to make reservations for this popular event is Monday, April 20.

“Pacific Rim, or what we now call Hawaiian Regional Cuisine, is basically composed of the dishes we grew up with — and we add a refined touch,” Ayau explains. “I want to create food that people know and are comfortable with, while adding my personal touch.”

The buffet will feature an array of entree choices, including Baked Salmon with Mustard and Maple Glaze, Hot Ginger Chicken and Braised Boneless Short Ribs with Cabernet Sauce — new menu items at Pomaikai Ballrooms. Guests may choose from a variety of tasty sides such as Roasted Eggplant and Chicken Soup; Macaroni Potato Salad; Grilled Mushroom and Artichoke Salad; Pasta Salad with Assorted Vegetables; Kimchee; Sliced Fresh Fruits; Steamed White Rice; and Scalloped Potatoes.

Popular desserts also grace the bountiful buffet, including chef’s selection of cakes, pies and French pastries, along with Warm Vanilla Bread Pudding served with English Custard Sauce. Freshly brewed coffee, Harney and Sons Hot Tea and Mango Breeze Iced Tea add a finishing touch.

“One of the highlights of our facility is its convenient downtown Honolulu location, and customers remark that when they are in the facility, it feels like an elegant hotel setting,” says Jeff Marcello, general manager of Pomaikai Ballrooms. “Guests continue to be amazed by what this space has turned into.”

Nearly two years after undergoing a host of upgrades and renovations, Pomaikai Ballrooms serves as an ideal locale for any gathering. and offers an enhanced level of quality and value via delectable dining options and impeccable customer service. Customers are encouraged to reserve the ballrooms for an array of events, whether it be business functions, weddings, baby luaus or graduation celebrations.

The spacious facilities include Hokulei Ballroom (11,194 square feet) and Piilani Ballroom (7,399 square feet), both of which can be subdivided and accommodate 700 and 400 people respectively based on stage setup, and well over 1,000 and 600 when arranged reception style. Pomaikai Ballrooms also offers a 6,000-square-foot foyer, which can accommodate various events, from receptions to expos with booths and product showcases. The venue offers convenience with approximately 1,200 parking stalls, a revamped air conditioning system, WiFi Internet throughout and enhanced stages, as well as accompanying sound and lighting systems, which serve as key amenities available for virtually any gathering.

Pomaikai Ballrooms is a one-stop shop for upcoming graduation celebrations. Its Graduation Packages include stellar cuisine and use of the facility coupled with entertainment by Dynamic Sounds, which provides professional deejay and emcee services, along with a sound system and music. Lunch and dinner buffet packages start at $39 and $49 per person (based on a minimum of 150 people), and include a customized combination of entrees and sides, cake, fruit punch, dessert, freshly brewed coffee and a selection of hot and iced teas.
