Breakfast is best all day, every day

Since 1974, late risers and breakfast lovers have counted on Eggs ‘n Things to feed their breakfast cravings — not just in the morning, but throughout the day and night, too.

A few years ago, the iconic Waikiki eatery expanded to Ala Moana and added more items to its menu, including some that are exclusive to this location. Some of those newer dishes include Spam Fries ($7.95, available after 4 p.m.), which exactly is what its name implies — Spam cut into skinny strips and deep-fried like french fries.

“It’s been very popular,” says assistant manager Douglas Groves of these meaty fries, served with homemade guava ketchup.

Ahi Cajun Salad ($14.95, available after 4 p.m.) has gained quite a following , as it consists of fresh, seared ahi, mixed greens and a tasty, spicy poke ranch dressing. “We use local fish and local greens,” adds Groves.

In addition to its breakfast-served-all-day concept, Eggs ‘n Things also is known for its use of fresh ingredients, reasonable prices and family-friendly setting. First-time diners , listen up: the restaurant is famous for its Strawberry Whipped Cream & Macadamia Nut Pancakes, Eggs Benedict, and Spinach, Bacon and Cheese omelet.

Groves also recommends Pineapple Plantation Pork Chop and Eggs ($11.95, available all day), which is accompanied by two island-fresh eggs, as well as your choice of rice, home-fried potatoes or three buttermilk pancakes. “We cook the pork chop on the flat top, grill the pineapple and pour the demi-glace over all of that,” he explains.

“The demi-glace sauce is delicious. We make it with real pineapple juice.”

Eggs ‘n Things Ala Moana location also serves alcohol (beer, wine and soon, blended drinks) from 4 p.m. to closing. Also, through the end of April, add whipped cream to any dish for $1. The money earned will be donated to Make-A-Wish Hawaii.
