Ahi & Vegetable has long been a go-to option for those craving healthy Japanese food in a hurry. The establishment has been dishing out bentos, donburi and sushi at its Fort Street locale for more than 10 years, and recently has expanded to a new location on Dillingham Boulevard. Patrons rave about Ahi & Vegetables’ bento combinations, such as B9 ($11) comprised of ahi and salmon nigiri, California rolls, fresh poke, and choi sum, which is designed to satisfy any imaginable craving. Daily in-house fish processing and a commitment to local tuna are part of the restaurant’s promise to utilize quality ingredients, and the absence of MSG also is appreciated by many.
While it’s no secret that Ahi & Vegetable is a great place to dine-in, its services and cuisine also effortlessly translate into party and event catering. Combo Platters, starting at $35, are an affordable and delicious way to add life to any gathering or business meeting. Spicy Ahi Tuna, a longtime best-seller at the Fort Street location, can be ordered by the platter for $45. There’s flexibility with the menu options, too.
“You have the chance to customize with catering,” says owner Sam Seo, noting a half-poke, half-spicy ahi platter, which isn’t pictured on the menu, but can be prepared for those who simply can’t decide on one or the other.
Chicken and California Roll Platter ($40) is perfect Super Bowl fare with island flair. What’s more, the team at Ahi & Vegetable is efficient at preparing catering platters, requiring only an hour or two of advance notice.
For your next special event, nothing will wow and entice guests like a mouth-watering spread by Ahi & Vegetable. “You tell us how many people and your budget, and we’ll give you a buffet with rice, salad, poke, sushi, whatever you like,” says Seo.
A spread of local favorites that’s healthy, affordable and delicious means everyone wins.
