If your ideal meal involves stuffing yourself silly with seafood, then Makino Chaya is the place for you. With reasonable prices for lunch (Monday to Friday $12.98, Saturday and Sunday $19.98) and dinner (Monday to Thursday $28.98, Friday to Sunday $30.98), and even an early-bird special (Monday to Friday from 5:30-6:30 p.m., not including holidays $19.98), Makino Chaya’s all-you-can-eat buffet is a bargain.

Snow crab, king crab and lobster are three delicacies seafood fans are sure to drool over. Visit the restaurant during dinner to get them.

Steamed Russian snow crab legs are available daily. These crabs “are the big ones,” explains manager Jo Makino. Their sweet meat is enjoyed simply with plain butter. “If you’re using a good product, you don’t want to dilute that taste with other sauces,” says Makino.

King crab, harvested off the shores of South America, are equally delicious. Their steamed legs boast slightly more meat than the snow crab. Look for them Friday through Sunday.

Succulent Maine lobster is baked to order in a rich and tangy sesame topanjan sauce. And luckily, it’s available on the regular menu all week.

In addition to these items, Makino also points customers to other fresh buffet items such as oysters, butterfish, sushi and tempura. “The customer gets to choose what they want to eat and as much they want to eat for just one price,” says Makino. That’s the beauty of a buffet.
