Genki Sushi has been a staple establishment in Hawaii, and has made it its mission to bring sushi within reach of everyone. And it’s not only sushi that’s in demand — patrons are grabbing for desserts, too!
It’s a sweet deal, as Genki employee Kristine Corpuz arrives at the restaurant bright and early each day to bake up a storm.
Vanilla Cupcake ($3.80) is a colorful creation, which features a beautiful rainbow perched atop sky-blue frosting.
“It is Hawaii. Everything is rainbows and cute. It’s more for the kids,”Corpuz says.
Another item perfect for the keiki is the soon-to-be-released Oreo Bites ($3.80, three pieces), offering bitesized pieces of creamy filling and Oreo crunch. Keep an eye out for this dessert at a location near you.
“We noticed that a lot of people don’t really care for chocolate,” Corpuz adds, explaining why she made the move to incorporate Oreo cookies and cream filling into her confections.
Genki Sushi purchasing and operations manager David Moon states that the sushi chain always likes to support local entrepreneurs like Corpuz.
Also on Genki Sushi’s dessert menu is RB’s Ice Cream Pie ($4.80 per slice), created by another local entrepreneur.
“The pies are made from scratch, including each flavor,” Moon says.
Flavors vary by location, but at the Ward Centers eatery, you can expect a choice of Watermelon, Cookies N’ Créme, Root-beer Float and Smores. (Genki locations include Aina Haina, Ala Moana Center, Ewa Town Center, Kaneohe, Kapahulu, Kapolei Commons, Waikele, Waiau and Ward Centers, as well as establishments on Kauai, Maui and Hawaii Island.)
Lastly, Lihing Mui Pineapple Sorbet ($2.20) will cool you off on these hot, summer days. And according to Moon, this sweet treat has been flying off the conveyor belt.
“Ever since we introduced it, everyone likes it. It’s so refreshing!”
Genki Sushi always provides excellent sushi options for locals and visitors to the Islands. Now, its dessert selection is just icing on the cake!
